Community rules

The Guide is a place to keep track of London and to share it with people you like. These rules keep it that way. They apply to everything you make in the app and everything you send to another member.

Who this is for

The Guide is for adults. You need to be 18 or over to hold an account, and we ask for your date of birth when you sign up. We do not knowingly allow an account for anyone under 18. If you think someone under 18 is here, report it and we will act.

What you can make here

You can create a profile and a username, save places into collections, write your own notes on them, keep a photo diary, mark where you have been, and connect with other members. Your diary photos stay on your device. Everything else sits in your account, and you choose what other people can see.

What we ask of you

Be a person other members are glad to run into. Warmth costs nothing and it is most of what makes this work.

Write about places, not about people. A sharp note on a restaurant is welcome. A sharp note on someone who works there is not.

Use your own words and your own photographs. Do not pass off someone else’s writing or pictures as yours.

Leave people their privacy. Do not post someone else’s home, their whereabouts, their phone number or anything else that would let a stranger find them.

Keep your username honest. Do not impersonate another member, a venue, or Vana.

What is not allowed

These are not permitted anywhere in the Guide, and there are no exceptions:

Reporting and blocking

Every profile, and every piece of member content, carries a Report control. Reports reach our safety team directly and you never have to leave the app. You can block any member, and blocking is immediate.

We review reports and remove content that breaks these rules, normally within 24 hours. Child safety reports are treated as urgent and come first.

If you think a child is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services first. In the UK that is 999.

What happens if you break them

We take the smallest step that fixes the problem. Depending on what happened, we may remove a piece of content, reset a username, limit an account, suspend it, or close it permanently. Child sexual abuse and exploitation, and credible threats to someone’s safety, mean immediate and permanent removal.

If we act on your account, we will tell you what we removed and why, unless the law stops us. If you think we got it wrong, reply to that message or write to hello@vanalondon.com and a person will look at it again.

The Concierge

The Concierge is an AI assistant. It is often useful and it is sometimes wrong, so check opening hours and book before you travel. Do not use it to produce anything these rules prohibit. Anything it finds outside the Guide is labelled as not reviewed by us.

Getting in touch

hello@vanalondon.com for anything about these rules or an action on your account.

privacy@vanalondon.com for anything about your data.

These rules sit alongside our Terms of Service, our Child Safety Standards and the Guide privacy policy. We will update them as the Guide develops and note the date here.
